Our Poi Are Finished

We started making our poi on Friday and today we helped Kahurangi make theirs.
The key competency we are focussing on this term is Participating and Contributing. This was a great activity to bring out that part of learning. To make our four plait poi we HAD to all participate- if one person didn't do their bit the poi wouldn't get finished. We did a great job and all our poi look very professional.

Now we have to work together and learn how to use them. Zoe S is a poi making machine!

Thanks to the great instructional videos from Melville Intermediate in Hamilton we have now got out poi made and are ready to start to learn some basic poi moves.

Thank you Room Eight at Melville Intermediate in Hamilton.

At Day at the Snowpark

I really enjoyed going to the ski Fields and doing rails, it was sunny all the days sometimes fog in the valley. The car broke down so we had to hire a van.

This is what I did in the first week of the holidaysThis is Snowpark.
Practising my jumps.
Landed it!
Getting more air this time.
Going up with Blake.
We stayed on for night boarding. I was the last off the mountain having the last run of the day.

You can see the snow guns making snow.

Welcome to Term Three

How did your holidays go? Are Summer and Caitlin back safely?

Moturoa Class is back in action and Jodie is teaching four days a week while Allanah is helping teachers from thirty Nelson schools use the internet and technology to help children learn. This week Allanah is teaching on Friday but usually she will be teaching on Mondays.

On Friday we are going to be making poi.

Mr Webb's class at Melville Intermediate in Hamilton has made us some videos on how to make the poi to show us what to do.

How to make a poi video- Part One.

How to make a poi video- Part Two.

We will be learning with them for our maths problem solving as well. It's going to be a busy day.

Sprinkles

Last day of school for the term was celebrated with ice-cream and sprinkles. We had fun making them ourselves. Hundreds and thousands sprinkled the staffroom floor!
Again I was proud of the way everyone took turns and managed themselves.
At assembly Isaac and Shona presented me with a lovely bunch of flowers to wish me well for my new role next term. What a lovely way to end the term.

Summer and Mini-Dylan's Holiday

Summer let us know how she is getting on in America. She and Mini-Dylan are having a great time.
Hi Everyone,
I'm having a great time but missing everyone. First we went to San Diego and spent two nights there. We went to SeaWorld and saw Shamu.
Then we went to Anaheim which is where Disneyland is. On Monday we went to Universal Studios for the day. Yesterday we hired a limo and went shopping, today we are going back to Disneyland to do all of the new Toy Story rides.
Mini Dylan is having a great time.

Bedtime Reading

Here is Daniel at the Book Fair. He is ready to buy Hotwheels Stunt Set for $10. It is an excellent book.
The juniors came to Bedtime Reading all ready for bed.
Fletcher really enjoyed listening to the readers.
Raewyn came in her red jammies and Thai hat.
Lisa looked all ready for bed too as she read her book. It was a great night out for book week. We should do it again sometime.
